AV-Test looks specifically at protection, performance and usability on multiple versions of Windows operating systems, and it performs these evaluations several times throughout the year. We use the most current AV-Test scores available at the time of our review. It is possible that new AV-Test scores will be released after our review goes live on the site. We will consider these scores during our next review of the best antivirus software.F-Secure Anti-Virus for PC is among the best antivirus software applications. It is sleek, fast and effective. With advanced protection technology and additional integrated security features, F-Secure protects against viruses, spyware, worms and Trojans. It is also one of the few antiviruses that detects and blocks ransomware, the latest malware threat, which locks down your computer from being accessed until you have paid a fee to the ransomware creator. F-Secure locates and eliminates rootkits and protects against viruses spread through emails, cookies or malware that attempts to infiltrate the Windows registry.
The respected testing lab AV-Test gave F-Secure a perfect score for virus protection on Windows 10 operating systems. This means it correctly identified and blocked over 20,000 old and new malware threats. It also scored higher than average in performance and usability, so it doesn’t cause your computer to run noticeably slower.
F-Secure offers simple navigation, making it easy to schedule specific scans or adjust settings. The main dashboard features quick access to scans, tools and statistics. Most of the time, F-Secure updates and runs scans automatically. It uses a protection network, which collects new threats in the cloud and pushes out updates to the entire user community. F-Secure scans compressed files as well as files on USB drives and email attachments and messages to make sure nothing gets into your computer that way.
When you purchase the basic F-Secure Anti-Virus for PC package, you get protection for three different computers or laptops. This is more than you get with the average computer protection programs, which come standard with only one license. Unfortunately, you can’t use one of those licenses for mobile protection, which would cover your cell phone or tablet.
